Do we really have to put up with Kirk Cameron? He's trying to convince atheists that God is the Creator by talking about how a banana fits perfectly into the human hand. It's being mocked all over the place. And I can see why.
Why do some Christians have to make the rest of us look foolish? Come on, Kirk!
Watch it here (go to 3:30 to see the ingeniousness).

we're so stinking narcissistic
I heard an ad on the radio today for leg hair removal: "For a summer that's all about me!"
It starts with infants: baby clothing line "It's All About Me."
Scrapbooking: "Deluxe All About Me Scrapbook"
A Google search for "it's all about me" revealed 1,620,000 entries.
How about "I'm lovin' it" (McDonald's) and "Have it your way" (Burger King)?
On Quiznos' Web site: "You deserve the best."
Apparently it's a great way to talk about sexual abstinence: "It's all about you!"
And a Fantasy Sports Network—betcha can't guess the tagline—"It's all about you!"
TimeWarner Cable: "The power of you." What the heck does that mean?
Anyone else done with this?

happy easter
I hope that you have had a chance to celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus Christ with family and/or friends today. As we have been studying Isaiah 53 during the Lenten season, I would like to leave you with these verses (10-11a):
Yet it was the LORD's will to crush him and cause him to suffer,
and though the LORD makes his life a guilt offering,
he will see his offspring and prolong his days,
and the will of the LORD will prosper in his hand.
After the suffering of his soul,
he will see the light of life and be satisfied.
It is because Jesus Christ saw the light of life that we celebrate today and have life. Praise Him!

visions of the cross
Tonight our church did our second "Visions of the Cross"—a Good Friday service which consists of four half-hour venues that repeat three times each. We had a Seder, a modern worship time, a film called "Most" (Czech for "the bridge"), and did a portion of Messiah. The evening culminated with everyone gathered together for Communion.
We've been working with the choir and orchestra the past couple of months to prepare for Messiah. It's been a great journey. And tonight, all of the hard work paid off. It was rewarding for all of us, and so much fun for me to get to conduct half of it. We did "Behold, the Lamb of God," "He Was Despised," "Surely," "All They That See Him," "He Trusted In God That He Would Deliver Him," "Behold and See If There Be Any Sorrow," "He Was Cut Off Out of the Land of the Living," "Since By Man Came Death," and "Worthy Is the Lamb/Amen."
The only sad thing about this whole set-up is that when you are a part of one venue, you never get to see the others. I have seen the movie, though, and highly commend it to you.
And, a great evening all around!

mississippi pics
Okay, I promised these almost a month ago. Here are some pics from my recent trip to Mississippi.

Maureen mudding at the Swanier house.

On Friday, I got to drive the van between two of the worksites and see if anything was needed (water, gas, potty breaks).

Dennis and Bob working on the Favre house.

Me and OlteRay—Guy, Maureen and I mudded and sanded his house all week.
