purpose of prophecy

In reading Isaiah today, I came across this verse:

"Therefore I told you these things long ago; before they happened I announced them to you so that you could not say, 'My idols did them; my wooden image and metal god ordained them'" (Isaiah 48:5).

I think this is so cool! God's ways and purposes are so amazing and transcend anything we would ever think of. According to this passage, God revealed certain happenings to His people before they occurred for the express purpose that they would know that it was He who did it, not their idols. He made it known before it happened; He performed it. Idols made of wood and stone could not take the credit.

Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in Me will never die. Do you believe this?" John 11:25-26

"God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ." Acts 2:36

He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification. Romans 4:25

We were therefore buried with Him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life. Romans 6:4

Praise be to God who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ!

He is risen.
He is risen indeed.
Alleluia!
