race #1

I made it a goal this year to run in four races, which is one more than I did last year. I'd also like to do my first bike race if I can.

My friend Erica sent me an email on Tuesday about a 5K race and asked if I wanted to run with her. When was the race? Saturday. You want me to run 3 miles by Saturday?! I've only run outside a couple of times this winter. Mind you, I'm far from a hard-core winter runner. Well, we ran around the church trail 2 1/2 times Wednesday evening—that's 3.1 miles. And we made it!

So today I completed my first race of the season and at almost exactly 10-minute miles. The official time was 31:21:30. For my first race with hardly any prep, I'll take it.

seven credits are better than three

So, I decided to take another class this semester—New Testament Survey. This is my first time taking two seminary courses in one semester. But it's the right thing to do. Almost all of the work for my counseling class is due next Thursday, and NT doesn't start until that weekend. Counseling will be over before the second weekend of NT. This was a good lesson in thinking ahead instead of for today. Do I want to take a second class? Not really. But in two years, when it's offered again, I'll be really glad I did. So, here goes ...
