five miles

Today, after 6 years of watching other people run our church's 5 mile Labor Day race, I finally watched myself crossed the finish line. It was kinda like that, too—an out-of-body experience where I'm seeing myself, knowing it's my legs that are taking me there but not quite sure. Up until today, I'd never even run 5 miles. My goal was to, you know, finish, and do it, without walking, in less than an hour. And I did! What a great feeling—so tired that you want to collapse, hot, sticky and sweaty, thirsty, but through it all, knowing you accomplished something you never imagined doing.
