My next seminary class is coming up soon—a one-week, 8 hour per day class starting a week from Monday—Hermeneutics. The simple definition of hermeneutics is Bible study methods. The traditional definition is the "science which delineates principles or methods for interpreting an individual author's meaning" (from page 5 of the book below).
I'm really looking forward to this class. But, I found out Thursday that I have to read a 400 page book before class starts. Time to go lock myself away!
Here's the book:
The Hermeneutical Spiral by Grant Osborne (also my professor).

I'm sure there will be more to come ...

So do you think they have Cliff notes for that read?
Rob,
You'd enjoy this book. Lots of phrase/sentence diagramming. Context, grammar, semantics and syntax are the first 4 chapters. I may come to you with questions. :)
Sentence diagramming! Yeah! Sign me up...
Good luck with the class--sounds like a great challenge.
don't you hate it when profs make you buy THEIR book for the class?
